How I got Healed

Hello everybody,

My name is Jonathan and I am now nearly five years old. I would like to tell you my story… Before I was born, the doctors told my parents that I had a severely deformed heart. Most children diagnosed with this syndrome usually die shortly after birth. The doctor gave my parents three possibilities: 1) to abort the pregnancy, 2) to let me die after birth, 3) to medically restore me through various operations. My parents chose option 3, although the operations were extremely high risk and there was no guarantee that I would survive. The latter option meant that I would have at least three operations in the following years. All the operations, especially the first one, were of a high risk and I could have died. The operations would not heal me, but would possibly give me a few extra years to live. They told my parents I would always be chronically ill.

I am glad and thankful to my parents that they didn’t let me die. They believed the Bible and took their fears to God. The whole Assembly started praying, in the Name of Jesus, for a creative miracle to happen, and that the operations would be blessed. Someone told my mum to read the booklet: “There is a Miracle in Your Mouth”. This is a story about a very sick child. There she read that you have to find the promises in God’s Word and confess them and God will make His Word come to pass. They expected miracles!

After my birth I was in pretty good condition. On the seventh day I had my first operation. After such an operation usually 50 percent of babies die, as it is so hard for their little bodies to take the operation. All the assemblies throughout the world were praying for me during this time and also during the other operations and whenever some difficulties arose. The Lord protected me during this operation. I only had a few minor complications. Whenever complications occurred, the whole assembly would pray and God would answer and show that He is Lord above all. One example was when I had a Pneumothorax. The doctors were stunned that they only increased the artificial respiration and within 24 hours – a time of persisting prayer - the Pneumothorax had completely vanished. The doctor said that other children experiencing this complication could deteriorate within a short space of time.

When I was about three weeks old, we could leave the hospital. This was the first time I experienced the normal everyday things around me and not only hospital monitors and alarms. I needed a lot of food, more than other children, but I grew stronger daily. Some doctors were amazed to see me in such good health.

I had to undergo my second operation when I was about four months old. The operation went well; I recovered and only needed oxygen support occasionally. Then one day, I suddenly needed oxygen support all the time. The doctors couldn’t find a reason for this. They said that apart from the oxygen dependency, I was well enough to be discharged from hospital within a few days. We had to take an oxygen cylinder home with us, as well as oxygen glasses and a little device to check the level of oxygen in my blood. That was a shock for my mum. My parents sought the Scriptures, so that God could give them more faith while, at the same time they prayed for a miracle. Some days later the oxygen in my blood suddenly increased to 88% and it stayed there. The doctor stated that, as my oxygen levels had been so low before the operation, it was unlikely that it would ever reach the desired level of 85-90%. Praise the Lord, the year following this operation, my oxygen level was at 90%. That was very high for me.

When I was three years old I had my third operation, which also went well, although it was not easy. Afterwards I had paralysis of the diaphragm and nearly caught pneumonia. I also had several effusions around my lungs and my heart. These problems continued for a pretty long time. However, the Lord has never forgotten or forsaken me! For instance, after receiving prayer I needed no regular treatment with painkillers, though this had been a necessity beforehand. Once when the nurse asked me how I was feeling, I told her that I felt good, because the Lord had healed me. After six weeks we could leave the hospital again.

Our trust is in God. He is the Creator and Giver of all life. And He is the one who will manifest a newly created heart in me.

In Jesus love, Jonathan (5)

Hi Jonathan, its almost a

Hi Jonathan, its almost a year now. I hope you are fine, thanks for answering my questions, I surely learnt a lot from what you said. I like it that your teacher gives you points for sitting up nicely, I was taught how to sit up nicely too but as I grew older, I forgot what I was taught, I am 26 years now and often get back problems because of that, but Iam working on that, exercise seem to help, but I will try to sit up nicely and I will pray that God helps me in my decision.

I am an IT person and I specialized in website programming, I live in africa and I came to know Christ through my mom, I surrounded my self with people who love christ and it has been an awesome experience. I love children and teach once in a while at Sunday school, I teach children of ages 4-6 years, these children are very playful most times I don't think they care for what I am teaching, but I do it anyway because I know some day they may turn out nice just the way you did. I will gladly send you a copy of my book, send me an email and I will give you my address
Best wishes

  Hello Brooks,   It is so

Hello Brooks,

It is so nice to hear from you again.
Thanks for giving me the chance to get and read your book.
I find it great that you teach children about God in Sunday School. I always liked Sunday School and still do.

I would like to tell you how I got saved. It was a long time ago when I started thinking about the Holy Spirit. I prayed and read about it hoping that the answer would come over night. One day my Dad explained to me how to lay a foundation so that God could work in me – in this case: to give me the Holy Spirit. The foundation was:
-          Confessing sin
-          Read the Bible
-          Obey anyone set above me
-          Pray-Praying in English (or the language you learned)

So I did that. After a while I realized that if you put the first letter of these four things together to one word, you get the word c – r – o – p. That was very exciting for me and my parents. Because it meant for me that if we do confess, pray, read and obey (do works for God) then God will answer and gives you a reward, a harvest. A few weeks later the answer came – one evening our assembly group met for a meeting were we watched the video called “How to heal the sick” by Charles and Frances Hunter. In the film was a section of how to receive the Holy Spirit. After the film we went into a time of prayer. I joined in the prayer. I would have given up trying if the assembly group-leader hadn´t assured me that I was doing it the right way by nodding to me. There and then I received the Holy Spirit, and I got baptised a few weeks later in our bathtub.

How did your Mum bring you to Jesus Christ? Have you as well received the Holy Spirit with the sign of speaking in tongues? Did you have a look at the website from our church www.cai.org about the theme of the Holy Spirit, Baptism and many more interesting things?

I am playing guitar and will hopefully start learning the drums. I also play football and go to a chess club at school. Every Tuesday I go horse riding and passed grade 1 recently – I just started. I am happy that I can do all these things.

With much love in Christ

Hello Jonathan, My name is

Hello Jonathan,
My name is Mucunguzi Brooks from Watoto church Uganda, Watoto means children in my local language.
Iam very moved by your testimony, thank you very much for such faith and encouragement that you are spreading about Jesus's saving power.
I would like to use your testimony in a children's book I am writing about how to pray and if you don't mind, I would like you to answer for me these question please..
1)How did your parents teach you how to pray?
2)How do you pray?
Hope to hear from you soon.
Regards
Brooks

Hello Mucunguzi How are you?

Hello Mucunguzi

How are you? Thank you for your nice letter. I have read it. aI’m now 11 years old and would like to answer your questions.

Q.1: How did your parents teach you to pray?

A.1: First my dad, my mum and I built up faith and then we got together and prayed! We prayed an earnest prayer to God asking him to heal me. Then once I said “Amen” I said “Through Jesus Christ’s stripes I am healed!” I then imagined Jesus dying for the sickness I have and also imagined Jesus having that sickness NOW! For instance, say I had stomach ache I would then imagine Jesus having stomach ache on the cross.
Isaja 53:5 says, “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”
James 5:15,16 says, “and the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”
This shows that Jesus answer prayers. Sometimes your prayers may not be answered straight away but god is/was still listening

Q.2: How do you pray?

A.2: Every morning in my bed I pray about my behavior to others. I think about the day, what’s on for example; if it were to be Tuesday I would pray that everything goes fine in school, that I respect the teachers and class mates. In my school you get points for sitting up nicely and for helping others. So I would then pray that I’m nice and kind. Every Tuesday after school I go to this “wild life club” where you can go to explore the wild life in the area so I would pray that I show respect to the leader of the club and to all the others in the club.
Just before going to bed I also pray to God. This time I pray about what went wrong, when I annoyed somebody or have been rude to someone and ask God for forgives.

If I pray, then I pray like this:

1. Praise/thank God
2. Confess your sins to God
3. Pray for things/people
4. Praise/thank God

I also pray in the Holy Spirit as mentioned in Mark 16:16,17,18 “ He that believeth and is baptized, shall be saved …. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues”.
I received the Holy Spirit in the beginning of the year 2010. So I pray in my prayer language and in between in English or German.

More scriptures about being baptized in the spirit and speaking in tongues are in:
Acts 2:4, Acts 1:8, Acts 8:17, John 3:3, 5-7, Acts 10:44-48, Acts 11:16, Acts 19:6,
1cor. 14:2

I find it really interesting that you write a book. May I ask you some questions as well?
How did you find to Christ?
How are the kids in your church? Would you like to tell me about your life?
I would like to send something to you. Would it be possible that you send me your address please?
I would also like to ask you if you could send me a copy of your book, it would be great.

With best wishes

Jonathan
