How I Got Saved

Hello everybody,

My name is Hannah, and I am 14 years old. As far back as I can remember, my mother has raised me in a Christian home. My mother took my sister, brother, and I, along to the meetings within the Christian Assemblies International. Through her, I grew up with the Bible and learnt how to live as a Christian.
A while ago, I realised that I had to decide if I wanted to follow God. I understood that it is not enough just to visit a Christian Church with my family and friends. I wanted to be a child of God and not only a “grandchild”.

I started to ask God what I could do. I read some Christian books and, of course, my Bible. I tried to live as I thought God would want me to live, but I had to be honest with myself, and soon learned that it was not very easy. I began to understand that I could not just follow God by trying to do everything by myself or with my own ability, because I always failed.

My friends showed me Scriptures in the Bible about the Holy Spirit and about the salvation of Jesus Christ. It became clear to me that I had to be baptised and receive the Holy Spirit. At this point I really understood all these Scriptures.

I also looked up some other Scriptures in the Bible about putting Jesus first in my life.

I then made the decision to get baptised. This took place during a great “Teens’ weekend” together with a lot of friends. I was baptised in my favourite lake, which is normally very cold, however, for me it didn’t feel cold at all - instead it felt really warm! After that I asked the Lord to give me the Holy Spirit. I had already prayed for two weeks to receive the Holy Spirit. Two days after the baptism, when I was praying with my mum at home, I suddenly received the Holy Spirit with the sign of “speaking in tongues”. PRAISE THE LORD! The Scripture in ACTS 2:38 is now fulfilled in my life.

I know that I am a child of God and it is so exciting to read the Bible, because every word means so much more to me now.
